Wilma F. Frontiera, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, in Junction City, Kansas. Born December 30, 1937, in Palacious, Texas, Wilma’s 88 years were marked by unwavering love for her family, steadfast generosity, and an indomitable spirit that left an enduring mark on all who knew her.
Wilma was a person one could never forget—fiery, full of warmth, and utterly devoted to those she held dear. She never met a stranger, and her door was always open. Whether for a neighbor in need, a family member seeking advice, or a friend passing through town, Wilma greeted everyone with a radiant smile and boundless hospitality. Her generosity extended beyond her words and actions; she was a true hostess who delighted in preparing meals that were abundant and delicious, ensuring everyone left with leftovers to enjoy. She had a unique talent for making everyone feel special, always remembering family members’ favorite dishes and preparing them with care each time they visited.
Wilma treasured her roles as daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She married Vincent Frontiera on June 25, 1976, embarking on a partnership filled with shared adventures and unconditional support. Together, they traveled across the world, collecting memories and nurturing a marriage rooted in deep affection. Wilma’s unwavering commitment to Vincent was especially evident in her years of support and advocacy for military families. She volunteered with the Wounded Warriors Project and provided invaluable comfort to veterans and their loved ones, drawing on her own experiences as the spouse of a serviceman. Her outreach resonated within the military community, earning her respect and gratitude from many whose lives she touched.
Her professional life was equally distinguished, with over twenty years dedicated to serving as a receptionist at the hospital on Ft. Riley. Wilma’s steady presence, organizational skill, and caring demeanor made her a beloved member of the hospital community.
Wilma’s passions and interests filled her days with creativity and joy. She loved her dogs dearly, finding companionship and happiness in their presence. Her skill with needle and thread was exceptional; she poured her heart into crocheting, embroidery, and cross-stitch. Each grandchild and great-grandchild was gifted a personal Afghan crafted by her hands, and every great-grandchild cherished a baby blanket she lovingly embroidered. These keepsakes serve as enduring symbols of her affection. For Wilma, crafting was more than a hobby—it was a heartfelt expression of the love she felt for her growing family.
Reading was another source of joy for Wilma, as were the trips she took with Vincent to Branson for a bit of gambling fun and relaxation. She valued the time spent exploring new places with her husband, embracing each journey as an opportunity for togetherness.
Family was Wilma’s life’s proudest accomplishment. She cherished holiday gatherings, reveling in the laughter and warmth that filled her home. Beyond holidays, she honored her family’s legacy with her annual Memorial Day travels across Kansas, visiting and paying respects at the gravesites of loved ones.
Wilma is survived by her beloved daughter, Linda (Rick) Beeman, and her step-daughter, Angela (John) Carey. Her legacy is further carried on by her grandchildren Lacey (Joey) Le and Kaitlin (Blake) Borgen, and by her great-grandchildren Grace, Colton, Isabell Le; Daniel, Emma, and Piper Borgen. Also mourning her passing are her sister-in-law, Donna, and her many nieces and nephews, each of whom was touched by her kindness and affection.
She is now reunited in peace with her devoted husband, Vincent Frontiera, her father, Stewart May, and her mother, Lucille Nicklas; as well as her five older brothers.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Johnson & Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home, 203 N Washington St, Junction City, Kansas.
