William “Bill” Scott, 83, of Junction City, Kansas died at his home Tuesday, April 14, 2026. He was born September 25, 1942, in Missouri to Walter and Ruby (Norris) Scott.
Bill enlisted in the Army on July 21, 1964 and that same year married his first wife, Charlotte Bainum. Their daughter, Stacy, was born 4 years later. He met his second wife while he was stationed in South Korea, marrying Tu Suk “Sue” Kwak in 1977. This union yielded a daughter and a son. After 20 years of service, he retired in 1984 and moved to Junction City, Kansas where he met his true love, Debbie Jenkins. They married in 2003 and she preceded him in death in 2022.
After his military service he worked as a civil servant at Ft. Riley, Kansas in communications for the next 23 years where he eventually retired for the second time.
Bill and Debbie shared a wonderful life together for twenty years. She was a positive influence to his life and source of happiness to him. They had many beloved dogs over the years and spoiled the neighborhood stray cats. After Debbie passed, their last dog Bella became his focus and his “favorite child” whom was his constant companion in his final days.
As a self-proclaimed Jack-of-all-trades and master of none, Bill’s interests ranged from mechanics to anthropology. There wasn’t an undertaking or project he couldn’t complete if he put his mind to it.
Bill is survived by his children: daughter Anastasia “Stacy” (Jeff) Pearce and their children Thalia and Fiona; another daughter Ruby and son James “Jim”; as well as step-daughter Heather Hayes and her family. He is also survived by his brother James “Jim” and sister Mary.
Along with his beloved wife Debbie, he was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Joan Davidson and Kathleen Steinhauser.
