Thomas R. "Tom" Manning, 75, of Junction City, Kansas passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at his home surrounded by family.
A private graveside service with military honors will be conducted at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.
Tom was born June 26, 1950, the son of Ralph S. and Virginia (Rook) Manning.
Tom served in the United States Air Force. After serving in the United States Air Force, he began a long and successful career with auto mechanics. He owned and operated Manning's 66 Service Station on Topeka Boulevard in Topeka, Kansas. In 1986, he moved to Junction City, Kansas and managed the Firestone Complete Auto Care. He retired from Firestone in 2005. After his retirement, he continued his passion with muscle cars and antiques. His collection consisted of vintage gas pumps, old vintage gas station signs and slot cars that brought back childhood memories. He was very passionate about preserving automobile history.
He married Barbara Fontenot July 15, 1995 in Junction City, Kansas. They would have been married thirty two years this July.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of the home in Junction City, Kansas; one son, Joe Manning of Junction City, Kansas; two daughters, Heather M. Boland and Melinda Graff both of Junction City, Kansas; five grandchildren, Jerrad Boland, Cassie David, Katrina Torres-Manning, Kiara Manning and Joseph Manning, Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Jameson David, Julianna David, Ryan Torres-Manning and Christopher Torres-Manning; one brother, Terry Manning of Wisconsin; one niece, Mindy Manning.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Sam Manning and Shawn Manning; his step mother, Erma Manning.
