Thelma Louise Thompson, born on December 11, 1930, in Amigo, West Virginia, passed away on February 24, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas. She lived a life dedicated to family, community, and service.
Thelma's career spanned several decades, reflecting her commitment and work ethic. She was employed at Montgomery Wards in Junction City, Kansas, where she was known for her reliability and dedication. Thelma had two significant stints at Fort Riley, first as a Civil Servant and later as a contractor, contributing her skills and experience in a variety of capacities. She concluded her professional journey at Walmart in Junction City, where she remained until her well-deserved retirement.
In addition to her professional life, Thelma was an active member of the Church of Our Saviour Methodist Church, where she found both community and fellowship.
She is survived by her three sons: Waverly C. Thompson, Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky; Earl R. Thompson of Olathe, Kansas; and Kenneth M. Thompson of Katy, Texas. Thelma was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren and also cherished her role as a great-grandmother to one great-grandchild. She is further survived by her two brothers, Clifford and Jeffrey, and one sister, Sandra.
Thelma was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Carl and Ardell (Ross) De Brill. Her legacy will continue to live on through the lives she touched and the family she cherished. She will be remembered fondly for her love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those around her.
Cremation will take place. Her cremated remains will be buried along side her husband Waverly, Sr. at Fort Riley Main Post Cemetery.
