Mrs. Teresita Stakem died peacefully at her home in Scottsdale, AZ on March 16, 2012. Cremation has taken place and the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Junction City, KS is assisting the family with arrangements. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April, 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fort Riley Cemetery, Fort Riley, Kansas with Fr. Al Brungardt officiating. She will be buried alongside her husband, Joseph Edwin Stakem who preceded her in death.
Teresita was born on May 4, 1916 in Austria to Franz & Maria Hanus. In 1952, she married Sergeant Joseph Stakem in Salzburg, Austria. They lived in Kansas from 1970 until August, 1999. She will always be remembered for her "comical, always elegant" personality.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Gina Arveson & husband, Edward; Terry Mericle & husband, Todd; and Claudia Stockinger & husband Adi. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Kathleen Miller & husband Joseph; Anita Wolf & husband Marcus; Ian Michael Tompkins & wife Kathryn; Martina Sini & husband Augusto; Sarah Marie Arveson; as well as 11 great grandchildren.
