Stanley Eugene Lucas, 90, of Junction City, Kansas passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at his home.

He was born February 5, 1936 in Woodward, Oklahoma, the son of Stanley and Verla (Thompson) Lucas. He grew up in Downey, California.

He served as an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force in the 1950’s. He was an auto mechanic for the County of Los Angeles for many years. He received his Master’s Degree in Vocational Education from Cal State University . After receiving his teaching credentials, he taught Auto Mechanics at Cerritos Community College until he retired.

From the mid-1960s to the late-1970s he drove a AA Fuel Altered. Being among the first to hit 200 mph on the ¼ mile drag strip. He drove the Beaver Hunter, Bootlegger and wrapped up his career as owner and driver of The Scrounger.

He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle and partner.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Michael Tomsello II, granddaughter Angela Palone, nephews Jerry Cole and Robert Lucas, and son-in-law Michael Tomsello.

He leaves behind his partner, Janine Hanigan; sister, Doris Cole; brothers Allen and Harry Lucas; his children Joanne Tomsello, Ellen Lucas, Stanley Lucas and George Lucas; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a few great-great-grandchildren; as well as other family and friends.

Cremation is planned.
