Sharon K. Tidwell

May 4, 1945 — October 8, 2023

Sharon Kay (Courtney) Tidwell was born on May 4,1945 to Curtis L. and Bertha M. (Bowman) Courtney in Tipton, Oklahoma. She passed peacefully in her sleep at her home in Junction City, Kansas on Sunday, October 8, 2023.

She attended Tipton Public Schools. She worked at numerous cafes and restaurants in the small town communities where she lived. She later owned Imogene’s Cafe in Blair, Oklahoma where she was known for her home cooked meals and delicious home-made cream pies, all made from scratch. Anytime she wasn’t working or at home, you could find her sitting somewhere on a river bank fishing. She was quite the fisherwoman. She truly enjoyed spending her time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. They were her pride and joy. She never met a stranger and everyone she met became a friend. In 2014 she moved to Wakefield, Kansas to be closer to her son due to her declining health but she never forgot where her roots were. She continued to make trips back to Oklahoma to see her family and friends as long as her health would allow. Her family was her greatest treasure.

She was preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Bertha Courtney and one brother, Terry Courtney. Those left to treasure her memory are two daughters, Marla Keller of Manhattan, Kansas, and Lorna Sanders and Lynn of Olustee, Oklahoma. One son, Charlie Breitenbach and Tiffany of Junction City, Kansas; six grandchildren, Michael Dominey and Hillary of Yukon, Oklahoma, Matt Chavez and Diana of Concord, California, Chris Chavez, Stacea Chavez, and Amanda Chavez and Jonathan, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Alyssa Breitenbach of Wakefield, Kansas; and 10 great grandchildren. One nephew Trevor Courtney and Cassidy of Edmond, Oklahoma and one niece Taylor Roberts and Chase of Wichita Falls, Texas along with numerous other family and friends.
