Shannon Douglas Truxel, a devoted family man, skilled mechanic, and proud veteran, passed away on June 3, 2026, in Junction City, Kansas. Born on June 10, 1944, in Sacramento, California, Shannon lived a life marked by service, hard work, and deep love for his family and community.

Shannon’s career as a mechanic on commercial buses showcased his technical expertise and commitment to keeping others safely on the road. Before this chapter, he honorably served in the United States Navy for 13 years, during which he was a member of the Navy (MCB9) Construction Battalion. His dedication and skills were recognized through awards as an aviation mechanic, a period that remained one of his proudest accomplishments.

On June 23, 1965, Shannon married Sharon Sell in Sacramento, California. Their union was a foundation of love and partnership throughout his life. Together, they raised a family that was central to Shannon’s heart. He was a loving father to his sons Michael, Shannon Jr., and Donald Truxel. His joy extended into his role as a cherished grandfather to Michael, Desirae, and Lacey, and as a proud great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren.

Shannon’s personality was marked by a strong character and candid nature; he always spoke his mind with sincerity and warmth. Known for his goofy side, he had a special gift for making children laugh, bringing lightness and joy to family gatherings. He treasured spending time outdoors, whether fishing with his boys or riding his beloved Harley motorcycle on trips through the countryside. His passion for motorcycles and races, as well as his enjoyment of watching boats, reflected a vibrant spirit who embraced life fully.

Shannon is lovingly survived by his wife Sharon Truxel; three sons Michael, Shannon Jr., and Donald Truxel; all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as his sister Mildred Smith of Hillsborough, Oregon and her family. His parents, Donald Truxel and Betty Jean Maxie, preceded him in death.

Throughout his life, Shannon Douglas Truxel exemplified devotion—to his country, his craft, and most importantly, to his family. He will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who knew him. His legacy endures in the love he shared and the memories he created with those closest to him.
