Robin was born on May 21, 1974, in Lincoln, Illinois, to Clyde and Linda (Starner) Yocom. After graduating high school, she enrolled in higher education to become a Registered Nurse. Robin was an excellent provider of health services and loved being a Nurse. She attained her Bachelors in Nursing and was studying to earn her Masters Degree as a Nurse Practitioner. She was a nurse in Herington, Kansas, Irwin Army Community Hospital (IACH) in Fort Riley, Kansas, and many places all over the continental United States as well as overseas in Germany. As a young woman, she met a soldier by the name of Danuel "Dan" Smith. Dan and Robin fell in love. They married on November 15, 1996. Together, they ultimately settled their family in Ogden, KS. During her time as a military spouse, she was awarded The Order of St. Joan D'Arc Medallion from The Third Calvary Regiment for her volunteer work and was also a leader of the Family Readiness Group (FRG) for her husband's unit.

Robin loved to bake, travel, visit friends and family, and cross stitch. She was very busy in her professional life, but always made sure she had time for the things she loved. She was a member of University Christian Church of Manhattan, Kansas, where she and her family enjoyed going to worship service. Above all she was a loving wife; caring mother; beloved daughter, sister, and niece; and loyal friend.

Pleasant, MI; her best friend, Geralyn (Gordon) Russell of Prairie Du Chien, WI; many nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
