Services for CSM(ret) Richard J. Hall, 79, of Junction City, KS will be Thursday, February 28, 2002 at 12:00 p.m. at Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel. Chaplain Thomas Condry will officiate. Richard died February 23, 2002 at Mercy Health Center at Manhattan, KS. Visitation will be held Wed., Feb. 27, 2002, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Fort Riley Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Rd., Topeka, KS 66604. Richard was born September 3, 1922 at Montgomery, AL to William and Fannie Hall. He attended Loveless High School in Montgomery, AL, he also attended one year of college at Tuskegee University. He married Hattye Louise Moore December 26, 1956 at Montgomery, AL, she preceded him in death April 27, 2001. Richard was employed by the United States Army. He worked in the Retraining Brigade as a CSM. Richard fought in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation Badge, Army Commendation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Unit Commendation (1 OLC), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), and the Legion of Merit. After retiring from the army in 1976, with Thirty-Five years of service, Richard worked security for Geary Community Hospital for ten years. He was a member of the VFW #8773, Lions Club of Junction City, past President of the Men's Group and Choir Soloist for the First Southern Baptist Church, and the Mason Ureka Lodge #3, Fayetteville, NC. He is survived by Three Sons; Herman C. Hall and Ricardo J. Hall both of Montgomery, AL, Charles B. Hall of Dallas, TX, One Daughter; Sheila H. Riley of Montgomery, AL, One Niece; Monica T. Pitts of Montgomery, AL; Two Nephews; Eugene Threatt, Jr. of Montgomery, AL, and Maynard Morrow, Jr. of Tuskegee, AL; Fourteen Grandchildren and Five Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents; One Brother and Three Sisters. Casketbearers will be the Fort Riley Honor Guard, Honorary Casketbearers will be Archie Riley, Jr., Michael Baca, Bob Pendergrass, Bobby Lane, David Lane, John Rankin, Sr. and John Rankin, Jr. Organist will be Teri Pendergrass and Vocalist, Bob Pendergrass and Cindy Casebeer.
