Reva B. Fincher, 87, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on August 9, 2024, at Valley View Senior Life Center. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on the same day, 1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Memorial contributions in Reva's name can be made to the Junction City Friends of Animals, PO Box 580, Junction City, KS 66441.

Reva (Ludwick) Fincher was born on August 14, 1936, in rural Memphis, Missouri to Wayne and Blanche Ludwick. She lived in Iowa and Missouri before moving to Kansas in 1972.

She was married to Kenneth Fincher in Memphis, Missouri in 1956, and they recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.

She graduated from Memphis High School in 1952. Right out of high school, Reva worked at Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison, Iowa, where she saved to buy her first car, a 1954 blue Chevrolet (of which she was very proud). In Junction City she worked at Whitaker Cable, Probate Court, The First Presbyterian Church, and she drove the school bus. She worked in Umberger Hall at KSU, Olathe North High School, Wolferman's Factory, and the Social Services Office in Mission, Kansas. In Texas, She volunteered by reading to children at the local elementary school.

Reva was a quiet woman with a keen wit. Reva gave birth to four children and cared for seven foster children over the years. She was a great seamstress, making many of her kid's clothes and teaching them to sew and replace buttons. Her favorite moments were watching her children in sports. She encouraged Kenna Sue in band, Jerry in photography, Dana in cheer-leading, and Roger in wrestling and baseball. She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, always keeping in touch and sending cards for their birthdays and special occasions. Her favorite hobbies were playing bridge, pitch, crossword puzzles, and many other games. Reva loved her many dogs and birds, they were just like family.

Reva was active in the United Methodist Church in Junction City for more than 50 years. She was also a Brownie and Girl Scout leader.

She loved music even though she couldn't carry a tune. The family was full of singers including Great Uncle Will, who wrote the hymn "Farther Along." This song was recorded by both Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash. She attended all of Kenneth's jam sessions when they lived in Texas and sometimes narrated for them.

She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth; four children, Kenna Sue Vincent (Joe) of Hill City, Jerry Fincher of Lawrence, Kansas, Dana Jaax (Todd) of Sharps Chapel, Tennessee, and Roger Fincher (Jill) of Lawrence, Kansas; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren with the ninth due in November and a host of other loving family and friends.

Reva was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.
