Nolan Ray Houk passed away on August 30, 2026, at the age of 16. Born on June 1, 2010, Nolan will be remembered as a funny, loving, caring, sociable, stylish, and extremely smart young man whose energy filled every room he entered. Family was deeply important to him, and the love he shared with those around him leaves a lasting mark on all who knew him.

Nolan was an honors student at Coronado High in Colorado Springs and was about to begin his junior year. He took pride in his education and in the accomplishments he earned along the way. Among those proud achievements were becoming a master Rubik’s Cube solver and earning a trophy for his skills at the shooting range. He was curious and talented, with a wide range of interests that reflected both creativity and determination.

He loved music, from rapping and singing to trying as many different instruments as he could. He also enjoyed computer programming and creating his own games, showing both imagination and focus in the things he pursued. Nolan loved spending time with his friends, whether together in person or gaming online. He was also an animal lover who found joy in the world around him, and he enjoyed basketball and bike riding.

Some of the memories held most closely by his family include outings to Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, trips to the zoo, and bowling together in family tournaments. He also treasured every visit back to Junction City to see his grandparents, his auntie, and old friends. As the youngest of his brothers, Nolan shared a very close relationship with them, and that bond was a meaningful part of his life.

Nolan is survived by his mother, Kenya McCamury, and his father, Richard Houk. He is also lovingly remembered by his brothers, Jaylihn Crawford, Keyon Houk, and Chris Crawford, with whom he shared a special closeness. He leaves behind his grandparents, Tracy and Brenda McCamury, and Jayne Houk; his aunts, Tamika Spears, Latoria Jefferson, Jennifer Gebo, and Kim Short; his uncle, Charles Houk; and his close friends, Damien Keck and Robin Leveile. He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Nolan was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Richard Houk Sr. and his cousin Keshawn Caudle.

Visitation will be held on September 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Johnson & Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home 203 N Washington St, Junction City, KS 66441. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. A graveside service will take place at 12:00 p.m. at Highland Cemetery, Ash Street, Junction City, KS 66441.
