Nancy Ann Echevarria, a devoted nurse, loving mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Good Shepherd Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

Nancy was born on August 8, 1936, in Wichita, Kansas. Nancy's life was marked by a deep commitment to her family and a distinguished career in nursing.

Nancy graduated from Nursing School at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, earning her credentials as a Registered Nurse. Her professional journey began at Fort Benning, Georgia, where she worked as a Registered Nurse. It was during this time, on November 28, 1958, that she married Eutimio "Tim" Echevarria. Nancy’s dedication to healthcare continued as she advanced to a supervisory role as Head Nurse at Irwin Army Community Hospital at Fort Riley, Kansas. She also demonstrated her nurturing spirit through positions as a school nurse at several Fort Riley elementary schools, including Custer Hill, Morris Hill, and Jefferson Elementary Schools.

Nancy was not only passionate about her career but also enjoyed a variety of interests that brought joy to her life. She delighted in birdwatching and crossword puzzles, embraced the thrills of square dancing and car racing, and cherished the times spent camping with her family. Above all, Nancy took great pride in spending time with her grandchildren, attending many of their school and sporting events, which remained among her proudest accomplishments.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Eutimio "Tim" of Milford, KS; her son, Tim (Shannon) Echevarria of Junction City, Kansas; her daughter, Debora (Berto) Gonzalez of Junction City; and her brother, James (Sally) Elvins, of Wichita, Kansas. Nancy’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Angelina (Brent) Gonzalez of Wichita, Kansas, Daniella (Steve) Hill of Overland Park, Kansas, Lauren (Andy) Echevarria of Frisco, Colorado, and Matthew (Sarah) Echevarria of Raeford, North Carolina. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren: Nicolas, Juliana, Marisa, Jackson, Quinten, Carter, Brynlee, Ava, Owen and her nephew Derrick Elvins of Wichita, KS.
