Mildred Geraldine "Geri" Smith

Mildred Geraldine "Geri" Smith passed away on September 18, 2026, just four days after her 90th birthday. Geri was born on September 14, 1936 in Nevada, Missouri to James Howard and Mildred Josephine Smith. 

Geri served in the Army National Guard for 21 years until her retirement in 1996. While serving she worked civil service on Fort Riley and continued to do so for 10 years after her honorable retirement. 

Geri was a member of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church congregation for her entire life spent in Junction City. Faith and her love of Jesus was central to her life. She instilled that love of Christ in her family and friends. 

Cremation has taken place in the care of Johnson & Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home and a private family ceremony will take place at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Manhattan at a later date.
