It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Kellerman, a loving wife, daughter, sister, and devoted community member. Born on January 27, 1965, in Karlsruhe, Germany, Mary Ann's journey through life was marked by kindness, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. She left us on July 29, 2025, in her beloved home, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary Ann dedicated her professional life to serving her community in and around Junction City. With a career spent at a local bank and engaged in various civil service initiatives, she touched countless lives with her supportive and caring demeanor. She possessed a unique blend of stubbornness that drove her to advocate for others while also showcasing her creativity in everything she endeavored, from her nurturing garden to her delicious meals.
One of Mary Ann's proudest accomplishments was her involvement with the Kansas Cancer Relay for Life, a cause that resonated deeply with her. As a representative of the Parkinson's Foundation, she traveled extensively throughout the state of Kansas, offering support and hope to those grappling with Parkinson's Disease. Her activism extended beyond state lines, as she lobbied with the Kansas Legislature and even made a memorable trip to Washington D.C., where she had the honor of meeting Muhammad Ali's wife, Lonnie. Through these efforts, Mary Ann exemplified resilience, continuously fighting against her health challenges, including Cancer, Parkinson's Disease, and Scleroderma.
Mary Ann found strength not only in her advocacy but also in the relationships she cherished. She leaves behind her husband, Jerry D. Kellerman, whose love and support were a constant source of strength throughout their journey together. Mary Ann is also survived by her sisters, Jo Ann Haycook and Gabi Paoloni, her sisters-in-law Janet Grimm and Diane Dergance, and her brother-in-law Jim Kellerman. Her legacy continues through her three nieces, Amanda, Emily, and Brandy, along with her nephew, Cody; her great-nieces, Chauntel, Taylor, Zoey, and Sophia; and her great-nephew, Owen.
A true animal lover, Mary Ann shared her life with her two beloved fur babies, Lovebug and Little Bear, who provided her with companionship and joy. She was not only a fierce advocate for health challenges but also a beacon of love, caring, and creativity that will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Preceded in death by her parents, Colon and Gertrud Johnson, her brother-in-law Alex Kellerman, and nephew, Ty. Mary Ann's spirit will forever inspire those following in her footsteps, urging them to continue the fight for visibility and understanding. As we remember Mary Ann Kellerman, we are reminded of the profound impact one individual can have on their community and the far-reaching ripples of love, advocacy, and resilience she leaves behind.
