Mary Catherine Conrow

Mary Catherine Conrow, a lifelong resident of Junction City, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, surrounded by loving family in her final moments. Born on February 24, 1932, in Junction City, Mary’s life was marked by dedication to her family, a strong work ethic, and a poised elegance.

Mary graduated from Chapman High School with the class of 1951. Early in her career, she worked as a telephone operator in Greenleaf, Kansas, demonstrating reliability and professionalism. She later served at Builder Supply in Junction City for five years before beginning a long and steady tenure with the Fegan Brothers Telephone Company in 1962. Continuing through the company’s transition to United Telephone Company, Mary faithfully worked there until her retirement in 1991. Throughout her career, she was known for her conscientious and diligent service in the telecommunications field.

A woman who valued her family deeply, Mary was especially devoted to her son, Steven Conrow, whose passing in 2024 left an indelible mark on her heart. Though several family members, including her beloved husband Jerald Conrow (who preceded her in death in 2019) and her brothers Fred, Harold, Lawrence, and Clarence, passed before her, Mary is survived by her nieces and nephews.

Mary was distinguished not only by her warmth and family focus but also by her distinct personal style and poise. Known to always be “dressed to the nines,” she took immense pride in her appearance and meticulously styled hair. In her leisure time, Mary enjoyed playing cards seriously and reserved her participation in bingo for times when she felt luck was on her side. 

Her final journey will be honored with a visitation on May 22, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Johnson & Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home located at 203 N Washington St, Junction City, KS . The following day, on Saturday, May 23, a graveside service will be held at Highland Cemetery, 703 W Ash St, Junction City, KS , beginning at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Dillon officiating.

Mary Catherine Conrow’s life was one of consistent devotion—to family, to her work, and to the quiet grace with which she carried herself. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and dignity, remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know her.
