Martin John "Marty" Wanecek

SFC (RET) Martin "Marty" John Wanecek, 94, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City, Kansas.

A private graveside service with full military honors will be held at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.

Martin was born August 22, 1930, in Covert, Michigan the son of Frank and Helen (Shimanek) Wanecek.

Martin served in the United States Army until his retirement. He joined the Army at the age of seventeen. He loved serving in the Army and traveling with his family. Martin enjoyed woodworking and target practice in the desert.

On October 31, 1949 he married Luise Bacher. She passed away May 17, 1996.

Martin is survived by one son, Frank Wanecek of Junction City, Kansas; two Daughters, Helen K. Williams of Junction City, Kansas and Diana Sandoval of Hinesville, Georgia; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Luise Wanecek, one son, Bernie Wanecek; one brother, Frank A Wanacek; three sisters, Elenora Burrow, Kathrine Bermudez and Angela Stairs.
