Marcelle O. Adams, 88, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at her home in Junction City. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Fort Riley Post Cemetery. Mrs. Adams will lie in state 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the Johnson Funeral Home. Those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 a.m. Thursday prior to the graveside.
Marcelle was born June 6, 1932, the daughter of John and Ophelia Young Oakry.
Marcelle was a civil servant working as an accounting technician for nearly thirty-three years before her retirement in 1987. She enjoyed bringing the family together for picnics and family functions. She also enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardening. In her lifetime, she made a lot of quilts and canned a lot of produce from her vegetable garden. Attending bible study was important to her. She had many bible studies at her home over the years.
She married Thomas L. Adams on April 1, 1967 in Junction City, KS. He passed away May 30, 1996.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and two brothers.
Those left to mourn her loss are two sons, Gerald A. Tarver and his wife Ramona of Mesquite, TX and Michael A. Tarver and his wife Safonda of Denton, TX; one daughter, Debra Tarver Walton of Plano, TX; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a host of friends and relatives.
