SFC (RET) John L. Martin, 81, of Junction City, Kansas died on Monday, January 15, 2024 surrounded by his family at his home.
John was born July 16, 1942, in Coushatta, Louisiana the son of Fred Hudson and Rita Leona (Brinson) Martin.
John served in the United States Army until his retirement. After his retirement, he worked as a United States Civil Servant at Fort Riley, Kansas. John attended the Korean United Methodist Church.
John enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He married Kumsu Kim July 3, 1981, in Junction City, Kansas.
Survivors include his loving wife Kumsu of the home in Junction City, Kansas; two sons, Shawn L. Martin and wife Tracy of Silver Lake, Kansas and John Robert Martin of Cheyenne, Wyoming; four daughters, Nammi Song and husband Jack of Omaha, Nebraska, Namjoo Foust and husband Roy of Katy, Texas, Namok Nguyen and husband John of Houston, Texas and Denise Shewmake and husband Jeff of Shreveport, Louisiana; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne Martin and wife Rowena of Pocahontas, Arkansas; one sister, Frances Kelley and husband Doyle of Crossett, Arkansas.
A visitation will take place 10-11 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2024 at Johnson Funeral Home.
A funeral will follow the visitation on Monday at 11 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home with Reverend Joohyan Moon officiating.
Burial will follow the funeral at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with full military honors.
