Graveside services for Iris F. Rogers, 76, Junction City, will be 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Highland Cemetery with Rev. Paul Wolf officiating. Mrs. Rogers passed away March 27, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital in Topeka, KS. The family will receive friends and relatives from 1p.m. until service time at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions made be made in Iris's name and sent in care of the funeral home, for a charity to be named by the family.
Iris was born April 10, 1931, in rural Alta Vista, KS. Iris was a daughter of the late August and Fern (Easter) Glessner. She was a graduate of Alta Vista High School and was married to Wayne L. Rogers on March 23, 1950 in Junction City. She worked for several years at Ft. Riley in the orders processing section of headquarters. She was a wife and homemaker who enjoyed many hobbies and interests such as gardening, bird watching, various sporting activities, finance, politics and keeping abreast of her grandsons' activities.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Rogers of rural Junction City, a daughter Debby Carroll and her husband James of Chapman, KS and a son Randy Rogers and his wife Cindy of Oklahoma City, OK and five grandsons, Jason Nelson, Tim Nelson, and Gordon Carroll all from Chapman, KS and Matthew and Nathan Rogers from Oklahoma City.
Iris was preceded in death by her parents August and Fern Glessner, two brothers, Cecil and Walter Glessner and a sister, Helen Bennett.
