Gloria Jean Marcus

Gloria Jean (Johnson) Marcus, 70, of Manhattan, KS, passed away on May 30, 2025, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

Gloria was born on September 15, 1954, to Robert Dale Johnson and Madelyn Jean (Reck) Johnson at Junction City Municipal Hospital.

She carried with her an abundance of compassion and dedicated her life to caring for others as a geriatric nurse. Gloria attended Kansas State University from 1972 to 1974 in the pre-nursing program. She went on to earn her Associate Degree in Nursing from Wichita St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1977 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from MidAmerica Nazarene College in 1987.

On May 18, 1981, she married her beloved husband, George E. Marcus, Jr. Together they were loving partners, parents, grandparents and friends. Gloria was welcomed into heaven just a few short weeks following the passing of George. Their joyful reunion offers comfort and peace to those who loved them both.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Megan (Gareth) Rohr; her brothers, Robin Johnson and Rex (Bethany) Johnson; and her cherished grandchildren, Trake Ryan and Remi Wilde Rohr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Madelyn Johnson, and her granddaughter, Madelyn Dae Rohr.

Cremation took place on June 4 under the direction of Johnson & Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home. A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
