Gina Maria John, born on March 13, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, in Junction City, Kansas. She was a woman whose vibrant spirit and unwavering joy touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Gina was known for her bubbly and upbeat demeanor, always bringing light and encouragement to those around her. She had a deep love for conversation and a joyful presence that made every room brighter. One of her cherished memories was traveling to New York to savor the unique cuisine and delicacies that could be found nowhere else, capturing the essence of her roots and taste for adventure.

Her educational journey was marked by dedication and achievement. Gina pursued her passion by acquiring a cosmetology degree from Wilfred Academy of the Stars and went on to earn an associate’s degree in business from Kansas State University. These accomplishments underscored her commitment to growth and excellence.

In 1982, Gina met the love of her life, Timothy John, while they both worked at the local McDonald's on Kosciuszko and Broadway in Brooklyn/Queens, New York. Their bond deepened over the years, culminating in their marriage on December 24, 1986, in their beloved Brooklyn Town. Together, they shared the joy of raising their daughter, Giovanna, born in 2001.

Gina proudly served her country, enlisting in the United States Army in 1986 and receiving an honorable discharge in 1989. Her service reflected her strength and dedication to something greater than herself.

Faith was a cornerstone of Gina’s life. She and Timothy joined Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church in 1990, a community that became their spiritual home. She received the Holy Ghost in January of 1992, and her love for singing, especially in church, was an expression of her faith and soul. In 2022, Gina and Timothy traveled to Liberia on a mission trip and fell in love with local children. She was also involved with her husband as a volunteer for Lansing Correctional Facility faithfully traveling every Saturday to conduct church services for the inmates.

Among Gina’s proudest accomplishments was fostering and helping families within the church community, exemplifying her nurturing heart and generous spirit. For many years, she donated and was involved with the Marines' Toys for Tots.

Beyond her generosity, Gina had a creative spirit; she embraced crafting in all forms and dreamed of launching her own t-shirt design company inspired by her Native American heritage.

Gina is survived by her devoted husband, Timothy H. John; their beloved daughter, Giovanna K. E. K. John; her sister, Natasha (Evan) Lumpkin; her Uncle James Mumford; a host of extended family members, and over 500 'homies' who will carry forward her memory with love. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldred Joe Nathan and Joyce Elizabeth (Kenniebrew) Johnson, and her Auntie Karon Mumford.

The community will gather for her homegoing on April 24, 2026. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church, located at 1010 Burke Drive, Junction City, Kansas. This will be followed by a homegoing celebration with Pastor Don Boyer officiating from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, also at the church. At 1:00 PM, a graveside service will be held at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at 5181 Wildcat Creek Road in Manhattan, Kansas.

Gina Maria John’s legacy is one of joy, faith, and unwavering love. She leaves behind a community enriched by her spirit and a family forever grateful for the time shared with her. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her to live with the same courage and kindness that defined her life.
