Dr. Brethour or just plain "Doc" as he was affectionately known by many of his patients loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. One of his greatest pastimes was fishing in Milford Lake with his friends. He was particularly fond of dogs and upon his retirement his Yorkshire terriers, Spook and Spike provided him with both companionship and a great deal of entertainment. However his greatest joy in life was treating his patients who he considered to be not only his patients but also his friends. He was a member of the Booster club serving for many years as "Cookie Chairman".
He is survived by his daughters Nancy O'Malley of Reston Virginia and Peggy King of Napa California and his son Jim of Junction City, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. As were his wishes he was cremated and private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given in his name to Friends of Animals or the Geary Community Hospital Lab.
Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel of Junction City, KS assisted the family with cremation arrangements.
