Donald LeRoy Garrison, 93, of Junction City, Kansas died on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City, Kansas.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Zion United Church of Christ Church 1811 McFarland Road in Junction City, Kansas. Pastor Erik Graefe will officiate. Burial will follow the funeral at St. John's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to Zion United Church of Christ Church or Geary County Fish and Game or Geary County Historical Society.
Donald was born July 19, 1931 in Dickinson County, Kansas the son of Ernest Clifton and Clara (Lefert) Garrison. He was raised on a farm near the Upland Community.
Donald attended Fragrant Hill Grade School and graduated from Dickinson County Community High School with the class of 1949. He continued farming with his father and also worked in construction.
On June 2, 1957, he married Leona Eloyce Manz at the Zion United Church of Christ Church in Junction City, Kansas. He continued farming some and worked in a men's clothing store in Junction City. On December 13, 1963, he began working at Central National Bank. He held various positions including facilities manager, loan officer and as an auditor for thirty four years before he retired.
During his time of employment, Donald also worked as a Geary County Reserve Deputy Sheriff from September 18, 1974 until April of 1995. He was active with the Geary County Fish and Game Association serving on the board and was active in presenting the Triple E classes to Junction City fifth grade students. He enjoyed trap shooting and helping teach gun safety.
After retirement, Donald was a volunteer two afternoons each week for thirty years helping improve the research center at the Geary County Historical Society by creating available materials used in research.
Over the years, Donald was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ, part of the Alida-Upland Parish Church and now Zion United Church of Christ of Junction City, Kansas. He was a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Donald is survived by his wife Leona; two sons, Rodney (Beth) and Roger (Josie Roehrman); one grandson, Ryan (Steve Burch); one granddaughter, Taylor O'Neal (Jordan) and Beth's sons Kyle and Justin Bergman; one sister, Marilyn Eastman; eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson Dillon Garrison.
