Charles “Chuck” Leigh Hurt. Charles Leigh Hurt of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Saturday, September 28th, 2024.
Charles – fondly known as Chuck – was born to Irvin Oliver Hurt and Eva Lorene (Beals) Hurt on April 2nd, 1963, in Halstead, Kansas. Charles served in the United States Army as a cook and infantryman.
Charles’s memory is carried on by his daughter, Aimmie, her husband, Andrew Jenkins, and their three children, Andrew Jr., McKenna, and Chloie.
He loved spending time with his grandkids, playing checkers, telling jokes, and doing their chores. His daughter, Aimmie, cannot remember one single day of her life that he did not call her. That was the kind of dad he was. He was loving, caring, insanely funny, never met a stranger kind of guy. Charles was incredibly strong and an inspiration to so many.
He is also survived by his brother, Oliver (Laura) Hurt sister Angela (Orville) Nelson; nieces, Tammy (Sean) Paquette and Janelle (Justice) Edge; and nephews, Ricky (Vicotria) Nelson and David (Jill) Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Lorene Hurt; father, Irvin Oliver Hurt; and older brother, Irva Oliver Hurt.
To honor the amazing man he was, a private service for the family will be scheduled at a later date.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
