Carol D. Barker, a cherished homemaker and devoted family woman, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, in Junction City, Kansas, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 4, 1952, in Staten Island, New York, Carol’s life was marked by grace, dedication, and a profound love for those she held dear.
A proud graduate of Tipton High School’s class of 1970 in Tipton, Indiana, Carol journeyed onward to further her education at Manhattan Technical College, earning her diploma in 1991, a testament to her commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth. Throughout her varied career, Carol brought warmth and diligence to her roles in the hotel industry and various industrial settings, balancing these with her heartfelt vocation as a homemaker.
Those who knew Carol remember a woman who found joy in simple yet profound pleasures. She was an ardent fisherman, delighting in the tranquil communion with nature that her hobby provided. Her home was made livelier and more comforting by her beloved cats, whom she treasured deeply. Above all, Carol’s greatest happiness stemmed from her family. Together with her husband, George R. Barker of Milford, Kansas, she shared countless joys and tender moments. Their journeys often led them to Montana, where they reveled in quality time with their daughter, Jazmen M. McBride, and her husband Mike, of Three Forks, Montana, along with their four grandchildren—Michael, Andrew, Skyler, and Megan—whom Carol adored.
Carol’s legacy is etched not only in her familial bonds but also in the memory of those who preceded her. She was the beloved sister of the late Deanna Slaton and cherished daughter of the late Lillian Thompson. She also mourned the loss of her dear son, Chris Slaton.
In mourning her departure, we celebrate a life beautifully lived—a life filled with love, learning, and quiet joys that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Carol D. Barker’s gentle spirit and unwavering warmth will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends, a beacon of tenderness and unwavering devotion.
Cremation will take place. No memorial service is planned.
