Barbara K. Kennedy

Barbara Kay (nee: Story) Kennedy, 78, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026 at Mason Health Care Center in Mason, Ohio.

She was born on June 26, 1948 to Virgil and Edna (nee: Beatty) Story in Springfield, Ohio. Barbara had a deep love for music and could beautifully play the piano by ear. She enjoyed traveling, discovering new places, and sharing good food with those she loved. A woman of strong Christian faith, her faith was an important part of her life and the foundation of who she was.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Colin Kennedy, Jr, her sister, Shirlene Robinson and one step-son, Michael Kennedy.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Anthony) Terry, James (Rhonda) Cooke, step-children, Steven (Jill) Kennedy, Rodney (Barb) Kennedy and Debora (David Schnitzer) Delany, four grandchildren, Hannah Terry, Koby Cooke, Hope Terry and Carson Cooke, and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Friday, October 2, 2026 from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at the Johnson and Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home in Junction City, Kansas. A graveside service will take place at 11:30 AM at the Lower Humboldt Cemetery on Humboldt Creek Road southeast of Junction City. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of Cincinnati or to UC Health.
