Axel Levi Toneys, cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, and cousin, passed away on June 6, 2026, at the tender age of four. Axel was born on November 15, 2021, in Manhattan, Kansas.
He spent his beautiful, bright life growing up on his family’s farm in rural Geary County, a place where he was surrounded by wide-open spaces and the deep love of his family. Axel was a boy of pure joy, boundless energy, and absolutely no fear. He loved being outside on the farm, whether he was climbing to new heights, helping his mom with chores, or loving on all of his farm animals. He was an artist who loved creating his own work, and he absolutely loved to swing—happily spending hours on both his inside and outside swings.
Recently, Axel welcomed a new, giant livestock guardian puppy into his life, and the two of them became an inseparable duo of pure, happy chaos, always finding their way into some kind of trouble together. When not spending time outdoors, Axel could often be found watching his favorite TV show or playing with his many stuffed animals, whom he lovingly fed his own snacks. He was a funny, vibrant little boy who could somehow fit an entire bag of fruit snacks into his mouth at once.
Above all, Axel had the biggest, brightest smile and a laugh that could instantly light up a room and make everyone around him smile. He is deeply missed by his loving parents, Cheynne and Logan Toneys; his brother, Weston Wilmore; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind his devoted maternal grandparents, Dawn and Tony Koppa; his paternal grandparents, Chris and Mindy Toneys, and Amy Voigt; as well as a large community of family and friends who loved and cared for him dearly.
Axel was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Billy and Helen Koppa, and Paul Toneys. The family expresses their deepest gratitude for the overwhelming outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community and everyone who touched Axel's life. To honor his memory, a private service will be held for the family.
Memorial donations and cards may be dropped off at the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, the Saline County Sheriffs' Office, or the Geary County Sheriffs' Office. During this incredibly difficult time, the family gently requests privacy as they come together to grieve and remember their sweet boy.
